Holistic Health Coaching

What is Holistic Health Coaching?

It is a one on one counselling method, which focuses on health care, rather than on sick care, like our system is doing at the moment. We spend about three-quarters of our health expenditures on treatment of largely preventable chronic diseases. As a Health Coach, I do not sell medications, but I empower my clients to be able make the most appropriate choices in regards to their own health and wellbeing.

Not everything that nourishes us can be served on a plate though. Remember those days as a kid, when you were so intent on playing a certain game or creating your own imaginary world, that when your mom or dad called out that dinner was ready, you just kept right on playing? You actually weren't really hungry at all or even got upset at the very thought of having to leave your wondrous world behind to go to eat.

Well, food, such as hot minestrone or a glazed doughnut, is but secondary food. We need it, but it does not fill our soul. Primary foods are Relationships, Physical Activity, Career and Spirituality (see the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, IIN, for more details). These are the areas in our lives that make up who we are as a whole being. As a Health Coach, I look at every single one of them.

As a Certified Holistic Health Coach, I offer sessions, speeches, workshops, presentations in all different kinds of environments, from a school setting to start-ups, companies and hotels. Especially women and girls, female students or employees are inspired to grow and ultimately understand themselves and their environment better.

Nutrition

Food is a beautiful thing. Eating it even more so.

My main goal is to inspire my clients to ENJOY food. Sure, I would love them to eat organic and support local farmers and cook a colourful meal for themselves and/or with their families on a daily basis, but hey... it's all about starting slow, re-educationg ourselves about nutrition and creating a personalised balance. Nothing against a truly authentic good Italian pizza, with whole ingredients and prepared with L-O-V-E.

A green juice never hurt anyone either though.

Relationships

This is not just the relationship you have with your food.

It's the people you share it with (or you don't). Having caring, laughter-loaded relationships will revolutionise the way we eat. Stress at work or with your spouse? The choices we make, what and how to eat, change dramatically.

Let's make time to connect, put away our many mobile devices while we eat and look into each others eyes again. Listen. Pause to make room for understanding, empathy and joy.

Physical activity

Yes, movement is key.

But no worries, I’m not the “no pain no gain” type of girl... at least not anymore. Moving should be bliss: You should be able to cherish every second in a plank position and every rep of a single leg deadlift.

Why? Gratitude.

How absolutely amazing is our body, this brilliantly constructed ensemble of cells and energy, working in synchronicity with our mind, heart, soul and surroundings? We are incredibly fortunate to be able to give back to our body, to ourselves, to CHOOSE to be healthier, stronger and happier. We have the option, the opportunity and the freedom to move.

career

Work. Work. Work. Get up. Go to work. Go home. Sleep. Repeat.

Weekends are there to get your mind off of work... But what if you had to work every single day? What if every day you did something that inspired you, moved you and brought you closer not only to yourself but to others?

Getting a chance to work every day and to be of service, is a privilege. Personally, I feel this way, because I am on a mission to impact, empower and change the lives of women and girls across the world and to take on any and all challenges along the way with arms open wide and a smile.

What is your work to you? Have you inspired someone today?

spirituality

Press Pause. Don’t fast forward nor rewind. Just be in the moment.

Taking time for ourselves, if it’s a candlelit bubble bath, a morning meditation or simply relaxing and browsing through Netflix, it’s ME time. And we all definitely need more of that. Self-care, self-love and relaxation are the foundation for us to be able to be of service to others.
